Exploring Custer County Nebraska

A practical way to explore Custer County
To understand Custer County, start in Broken Bow and resist the urge to stop at the first map result. The county also includes Arnold and other incorporated communities; each search area can show a different mix of in-town property and surrounding land.
Make the trip useful
Walk a public downtown area in Broken Bow, then use the map to trace a second stop in Arnold. Notice practical details such as the condition of nearby roads, the distance between everyday errands and the setting around each property. A short drive can answer questions that listing photos cannot.
For a regional outing, consider Custer County Museum/ Historical Society near Broken Bow or The Boneyard Creation Museum near Broken Bow. These destinations are in the broader area and should not be mistaken for attractions inside every community in the county.
What the town list tells you
The county’s larger incorporated places include Broken Bow (3,506 residents in the 2020 Census), Arnold (592 residents in the 2020 Census), Callaway (563 residents in the 2020 Census). Those counts give a sense of scale, but they do not predict how many properties will be available today. Look at each live listing, then compare the setting, parcel size and distance to the services you use most.
For a more complete picture, also look at Comstock and Berwyn. Smaller village results may be sparse on a given day. That makes a saved search and the broader county map especially useful; the right listing may appear outside an incorporated boundary.
Before you tour a property
Confirm the listing status, exact address or parcel, access, water and utility information with the listing professional. For acreage or unusual property types, ask which details are verified and which need independent inspection. The county view below can be a starting point, but it should update from the live MLS feed rather than a static list.
If you are planning a visit around a community gathering, check the Custer County Fair schedule. It is a county event, and its venue may be in a different community from the property you want to tour.
Browse current county listings and use the linked community pages to narrow your search.
